The inaugural West Coast Conference (WCC) Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship was held at Ocean Beach Park in Santa Monica, CA on Friday and Saturday. The participants were #1 seeded Pepperdine Waves, San Francisco Dons (#2), Santa Clara Broncos (#3), Saint Mary’s Gaels (#4), Pacific Tigers (#5), Loyola Marymount Lions (#6) and Portland Pilots (#7).

Pepperdine, San Francisco, Saint Mary’s and Loyola Marymount advanced to see action on Saturday.  The four teams battled through the wind with Pepperdine and Saint Mary’s outlasting the others to meet in the finals.

The Waves, led by coach Nina Mathies, defeated Saint Mary’s Gaels, 5-0, to win the championship.
